Recipe for Japanese Style Chicken

You can find this recipe in my cookbook.  We love it.  Our 18-year-old made his wrap-ups with such a festive flair, we decided we needed a photo.  Enjoy!

Japanese Style Chicken

3 large boneless chicken breasts, sliced in thin strips
⅓ cup gluten-free soy sauce
¼ cup brown sugar
½ teaspoon garlic, crushed
½ teaspoon powdered ginger
¼ teaspoon toasted sesame oil
sesame seeds to cover chicken
cooked rice
corn tortillas, optional

  1. Brown the chicken in oil until nearly done.
  2. Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. Pour over the chicken and completely cook the chicken over medium heat. Serve with cooked rice.

Variation
A wrap
Place pieces of chicken and a spoonful of cooked rice in a warm tortilla. To warm the tortillas, surround them in a moist paper towel or wrap them in a clean dish towel. Place them in the microwave until they are soft and pliable, approximately 45 seconds for 2 tortillas.  Add rice, guacamole, tomatoes, lettuce and ranch dressing.

Serves 3 to 5

Tip  This chicken recipe is delicious when it is cooked on a grill. Marinate the chicken in the sauce for several hours before grilling.
